Keepin’ It Real Thursday {Sacramento Newborn Photographer}

So.  I felt I needed to start a post like this.  I LOVE newborn photography. Love it.  But to keep it real- it’s not easy.  There’s A LOT of preparation that goes into these sessions- before, during, and after.  You have to have patience.  I mean a lot of patience.  Babies are the boss.  As much as you can prepare, feed the baby to get them sleepy, keep them comfortable with heating up the room to a temperature that is nice and cozy for them, but somewhat resembles a sauna to everyone else, they are the boss and will make it a point to remind us sometimes throughout the session.

Also a big part of newborn photography is safety.  It’s great to get creative, but #1 priority should always be to keep these precious little gifts safe.  Some of the cutest poses are created with photoshop magic.  The awesome shots where baby is holding their cute little head in their hands is 2 shots put together in photoshop (a composite).

And lastly- I think it’s just fun to see a little behind the scenes and maybe even have a little giggle when things don’t go exactly as planned.  So from time to time  I will try and post the not-so-perfect shots, outtakes, behind the scenes, before and afters just to keep it real and not take myself too seriously. 😉

So here is my first Keepin’ It Real post with precious Malia….  She did great for her session.  But for anyone that does newborn photography, you know those moments when you get baby settled, have them in the perfect pose, you back up, pick up your camera, are just about the press the shutter and baby moves or gets upset (showing you they are the boss!) and you have to start all over again (patience).  This was one of those shots and I love when I don’t put the camera down right away, because sometimes the not so perfect shots are just as perfect.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to kick back, stay awhile, and take a look around 🙂
